Pests of all kind manage to creep people out to the extreme. They are annoying, small, dirty and dangerous to health. Bathroom pests are no different. To get rid of them can prove to be a difficult job however with thorough care and cleaning, you will succeed!
How To Remove Bathroom Pests
Bathroom pests usually enter the place through drains, pipes, flush or toilet and cracks and crevices in the walls of the loo. While you can cover every crack and crevice, you cannot permanently close your drain because then how will the water ever leave. The second hurdle is that these flies when disturbed slightly attack with sheer force. They do not sting or bite but will sit on you or buzz around you. But most of all they are HIGHLY unsanitary. They are the cause of many diseases in kids and adults alike. Here are some of the ideas which can help you to remove them from your bathroom:
1. Cover the Cracks and Crevices
Cover all the crack and crevices in your bathroom. Sometimes these cracks become home to their eggs which means an increase in their population and trust me, you don’t want that to happen. Cover them up and hold a flashlight while you’re at it so you don’t miss a single hole.
2. Clean Thoroughly
Clean your bathroom every day and if possible use disinfectants after every two days if you can’t manage regularly. Sometimes, the lack of cleaning encourages such pests to infest your bathroom.
3. Remove the Trash
Remove the trash and do not leave hair in the shower drains or anywhere else in your bathroom. These pests are attracted to everything dirty and bathroom trash is the perfect place for them to reside and spread germs around.
4. Cover the Drain Holes
Now since permanently covering the drain holes is out of question, hence you can permanently put a gauze under the drain hole or better yet stick it so it won’t fall of due to the pressure of water. This way the pests won’t be able to invade your bathroom.
5. Homemade Solution
Either pour a mixture of sugar, salt and vinegar in soap filled water and drop it in the drains or pour vinegar along with hot boiling water down the drains. Squeezing a lemon down the drain will do the trick as well. With these solutions, the pests immediately exits your pipes or drains altogether.
How To Prevent The Pests From Coming Back
If you follow the above instructions diligently then chances are the pests will leave you alone for some time. However, if you want to keep them away for practically forever then follow these instructions:
1. Daily Cleaning
Clean your bathroom daily with disinfectants. Take out the trash every day and cover your bin with clean plastic bags. Do not leave tissues on the ground or hair in the drain. Clean them all out properly.
Hire the services and ask them for permanent solutions. They contain special disinfectants which will allow the pests to stay in the gutters forever.
Pour the above solutions in the draining holes after every week or so. You don’t have to apply all the techniques explained above. You can choose one which suits you and repeat the motion after every week.
